After the enforcement of Jio 4G in India, people here were able to enjoy the internet at the speed of 14 Mbps. 4G is almost five times faster than its predecessor, 3G. Reportedly, there is news that Jio will bring 5G technology in India by the end of the year 2021. Countries like China, the USA, and South Korea have already deployed 5G for their use.
So what is exactly 5G technology?
5G is a wireless communication technology after the range of 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G. This functions by using radio waves or radio frequency spectrum to transmit and receive data. 5G technology is the next-generation cellular networks technology build on the foundation created by 4G LTE which promises to elevate the speed of the wireless networks.
Benefits of 5G technology in India
- Faster internet speed: The most logical and obvious reason to have an updated technology is that 5G networks provide for businesses is higher data speeds than 4G. While 4G’s provide a maximum speed of 100 megabits per second (Mbps), 5G has the potential to reach up to 10 gigabits (Gbps) per second; that theoretically means that 5G could be up to 100 times faster than 4G. The real speed of 5G will not be as much as mentioned, but the pure speed that 5G promises will provide a huge boost for Information Technology. Companies growing bigger every day and storing an obscene amount of data; with the use of 5G network speeds, transferring huge amounts of data will no longer be a problem.
- Large bandwidth and higher device capacity: A network has limited capacity to handle a certain number of devices and data transmissions at once. With the welcome of 5G networks, it can increase the capacity and spectrum band over 4G deployments. It is estimated that 5G deployments will be able to support one million devices per square kilometer, which will allow companies to Support a good number of devices inside their premises. Also, the larger spectrum band of 5G permits more simultaneous transmissions since there are more radio wave frequencies to use. Therefore, 5G’s spectrum band consists of higher radio frequencies, which means that data transmissions will be much faster than 4G. And can be used to track various other app like the Google apps more effectively.
- High speed at work: One of the greatest advantages of mobile devices in the business world is that it allows employees to work from essentially anywhere. Because they can take mobile devices anywhere they go, workers can take their work with them even out of the office. With the higher data speeds that 5G deployments promise, remote work can be accomplished at faster rates even when employees aren’t connected to a business network.
- Internet of things: The Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the way for companies in terms of data and connectivity. Tons of data that businesses want to analyze, and many businesses are planning to create an entire IoT workplace is generated by IoT devices. With the higher data speeds of the 5G network, enterprises can access that data easily and accommodate every device at the IoT edge with increased capacity.
Is India ready for 5G technology?
India’s growing business in terms of phones and technology. With a high-speed Internet connection on 3G and 4G networks, the promise of more fun and the continuing world around will be close to the corner. Countries that want to remain competitive in the global economy are adopting 5G technology. Because technology is the backbone of a country to develop exponentially. Technological evolution is required to improve the lives of the people in a country and continue evolving in the global economy.
5G technology is already introduced in countries like The United States, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, China, Sweden, and Estonia. However, it is still not used in full swing. If we look at the quality and quantity of users, we are ready for 5G technology in India. The Indian government has already announced that networks will be 5G enabled by 2020. And hopefully, by 2024, we will have a full range of 5G networks. Before that, it has to undergo a lot of challenges in India.
Some challenges with 5G technology in India
India is a bit late in the race for the testing 5G network in India. Countries like the USA and Chine already way ahead of us. And probably will become the first provider of 5G services. While we were enjoying the outbreak of 4G in our country, these countries already had started the process of testing for 5G technology. So we can imagine that how much time it will take to launch a 5G network service in India. Moreover, in some parts of the country, the speed of 4G LTE is slow, and working on this speed doesn’t make people satisfied. It means to date some cities in India are still not able to use 4G technology properly. The reason could be anything, maybe the more usage of the internet among the users or the network towers not properly installed.
